San Diego student Justin White (AKA jublin) honed his talents in classic clandestine fashion: “I never really paid attention in school and would just draw and doodle in class. As long as it looked like I was taking notes or writing something down, my teachers never bothered me.”
His skills are primarily self-taught: “I have taken a couple art classes, but nothing big. The one art class I took in high school ended with my teacher throwing out all of my work because she was a schizoid.”
Justin on his mercurial methods: “A mechanical pencil and sheet of paper are my favourite caveman tools, but I use Macromedia Flash to colour and ink.”
Justin takes it easy by watching cartoons, playing Ultimate Frisbee and scarfing down the carbs: “I’m all about fast-food (hamburger, hot dog and/or burrito) because it’s quick and easy. It’s also greasy and fattening, but I’m a tough guy so I can handle it.”
